"I need help NOW"

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are panicking? Maybe your thoughts were out of control and you were struggling to gain any sort of control of anything? In those moments it is sometimes hard to know what to do or to remember what you are supposed to do in those situations.

So here are some instructions for what to do so that you can remain safe. If you find this helpful, go ahead and print it out and tape it to a wall in your bedroom or to the inside of your locker.

  1. Ground yourself - find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.

  2. Go to a safe spot or to someone you can trust. If safety is a concern, find an adult that can help you.

  3. Text MN to 741741 for anonymous support. This is the Crisis Text Line and they can help you through difficult times and help keep you safe - and it is private!

That is all you need to know for IMMEDIATE help. What comes next is ongoing support from either myself, a therapist, or another trusted adult that can help you gain stability.
